Overview
Al Mishari Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, decided to relocate its SAP environment from its existing cloud provider to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). - Data residency: The Kingdom's data regulations favour hosting within Saudi Arabia, supported by GCP's Dammam region.
- Limited flexibility: Resizing systems for growth or projects was slow and expensive on the incumbent platform.
The Solution
DigiMed executed a structured cloud-to-cloud migration:
- Landing zone design: A secure GCP foundation — networking, IAM, security policies and monitoring — designed for SAP healthcare workloads.
- SAP-certified sizing: Systems were right-sized onto SAP-certified GCP machine families based on actual utilization rather than legacy allocations.
- Rehearsed cutover: System copies validated the migration path; production moved in a planned weekend window with a tested rollback plan.
- Backup & DR: Cloud-native backup and a disaster recovery concept were configured from day one.
- Hypercare: Post-migration support tuned performance and stabilized operations before handover.
